Ynysybwl RFC Minis Win 1000 Pounds in The First Pink Storage Community Change Campaign

It’s been an exciting time here at Pink Storage, as we wrap up the very first round of our Community Change initiative, our campaign designed to give back to the communities we proudly serve.

Earlier this year, Pink Storage launched Community Change, calling on charities, clubs, and community groups across South Wales to share their stories and apply for funding. After receiving many inspiring entries, we shortlisted three finalists and invited the public to cast their votes on our Facebook page.

And the Winner Is…

After more than 800 public votes were counted (with help from our trusty mascot Hugo the gorilla!), we’re thrilled to announce that Ynysybwl RFC Minis was crowned the winner of our Community Change callout, receiving £1,000 to support their grassroots rugby programme.

Based near our Pontypridd self storage facility, Ynysybwl RFC Minis is a community-focused rugby club that provides young players with free access to sport. The club supports multiple age groups and ensures that no child is left out due to financial barriers.

The £1,000 prize will go toward installing a new refreshment hub at their recreation ground and will help the club become more self-sufficient, ensuring that access to rugby remains free for every family, and that young players have the equipment needed to help them thrive.

Celebrating the Runners-Up

But they weren’t the only winners. Our amazing runners-up were Rhydyfelin Netball Club and Ffrindiau Awel Taf, which each received £200 to support their brilliant community projects.

Ynysybwl RFC Minis’ Reaction

On receiving the news, Rhian Kingsbury from Ynysybwl RFC Minis said, “When we entered, we never imagined we’d be shortlisted, let alone win! Our goal is to become fully self-sufficient and keep rugby completely free for parents and children. This donation helps us generate sustainable income and remove barriers, ensuring no child is left on the sidelines.”

What’s Next? Another Round Coming Soon!

Scott Evans, Managing Director at Pink Storage, added, “Congratulations to Ynysybwl RFC Minis and a huge thank you to everyone who took part. The response to our first Community Change campaign was incredible, and so we’re already planning the next one!”
